About The Voice
The Breathitt County Voice is a locally owned, weekly newspaper published in Jackson, Ky. With a circulation of approx. 3500, the Voice focuses on the local news of Jackson and Breathitt County, much of which revolves around our children, their schools, and their academic and athletic accomplishments.
The Voice was started by Delores Chandler and Elesha Richardson in 1992 with the intent of providing fair and non-biased coverage of all the news. Though Delores and Elesha have moved on, the Voice remains committed to their lofty ideals. The Voice is arguably the largest newspaper in our area and has clearly become the newspaper of choice.
The Voice is distinct from other area weekly newspapers in that it contains several weekly columns by local authors and a high volume of photographs. The purpose of this website is to share these columns along with the photos, a great many of which have never appeared in print.
Welcome to the Breathitt County Voice, on shelves as early as Thursday evening. We’re glad you could drop in. Feel free to contact us or better yet, subscribe.
