“Don’t Sell Me Short”, by Andy Mitchell
With spring in the air and summer right around the corner, there is one thing that is lurking around everybody’s home and has already struck at some people’s houses: Mowing the grass. It creeps up on you like a cold, and exactly like a cold it seems to keep coming back no matter how many times you take care of it. So, to celebrate this seasonal event, I have story of my own to share.
About a week ago, I wondered upon a note. My family is notorious for leaving notes. We leave notes to one another in the morning, evening, and even throughout the day. We are certainly one “note-leaving” bunch. Sometimes, we leave notes to let everyone know where we are, what we are doing, or what someone needs to do. Sometimes, we use them as a reminder. In any event, the best description of this note would be a bulletin. It said, and I am not exaggerating or making any of this up:

Below this was a space for each of us (my sisters and I) to sign. Of course, all of us signed the “contract.” My mom just couldn’t come right out and ask us to mow the grass; she had to do it in her own special way. But, that’s just the way she does things.
All three of us helped with the grass mowing on the 2nd of April. After it was all finished, I must say that the coolest thing about the seminar was getting to meet Billie Mitchell: Lawn Mower Extraordinaire. I got her autograph and everything. She’s really nice in person!
-Happy mowing.
