Ladycats Heading to State
As most of you know, the Breathitt Ladycats are headed to the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Bowling Green for a second year in a row. I’m pretty excited for the girls.
This past Sunday was the big day, the regional championship. The snowfall had caused the game to be rescheduled from Saturday, which resulted in the unusual Sunday game. After church, my family and I packed up and went to Powell County to watch the Ladycats take on Knott County. Anything can happen when Breathitt and Knott play. I thought it would be close; barely any points were scored by the end of the first quarter. But by the third quarter I knew we had won.
I’ve grown up with Kendall Noble and I can tell you that she is a great person as well as a great ballplayer. I am sure that all of her family as well as all her friends are extremely proud of her. We all love her to death.
The girls have had a great season, so it wasn’t really a surprise when they won the regional championship. Everybody was ecstatic, though, because it meant another chance at the state tournament. I think they will do better this year, because these girls have experienced state before, so they won’t be as nervous. They will be more comfortable, and will therefore probably be able to play better.
All in all I’m proud of our Ladycats, as I know everyone else in our county is. You had a great season, and we will all be watching you at state.
