Caleb and His New School
As mo-st of you know, I have a five-year-old nephew named Caleb. About a month ago, he had to switch preschools when his father, Wallace changed jobs. It has been a big transition to say the least.
He started out last year at Owsley County Elementary. He loved his teachers and classmates. He was beginning to learn a lot, too. Then last fall, Wallace, his father, was in a serious car accident, and since Wallace drove him to school everyday, he missed quite a lot of school last semester. Then this semester he switched to Highland-Turner.
At first, he was a little hesitant about leaving his teachers and old school. He cried the first few days. Then he finally began to make friends, and he began to like his new teacher. He also has some family that works at Highland-Turner, so that made it a little bit better on him.
Right after he started his new school, he began reciting his letters. He can also say the sounds and the words that go with them. He is learning so much and you can tell he is enjoying it. Although he likes school, he has also learned to enjoy his snow days. He does snow dances and has even been know to pray for snow. (It worked for him once.)
I know it was a hard transition for Caleb switching schools, but, I know as well, that he is learning a lot and it was a good change for him.
