Foretold: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Is. 9:6). Fulfilled: “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn” (Luke 2:7).
Sirens blared as the bomb squad rushed to the busy street corner. Awaiting it there sure enough was an explosive device planted inconspicuously by a trash bin. “Clear the area!” yelled the sergeant. A quick look revealed that the bomb’s LCD timer was broken, leaving the veteran crew with no idea as to when the device might explode.
Everyone has a favorite dish especially during the holidays, and this is no exception for the men in my family. And I can say without reservation that most of the hungry gentlemen around our Thanksgiving table absolutely love my mom’s macaroni-and-cheese. As a matter of fact, when Mom attends any potluck dinner or church social, the guests always look forward to her tasty cheesy pasta dish.
Now it came about when the king lived in his house, and the Lord had given him rest on every side from his enemies, that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “see now I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within tent curtains.” 2 Sam 7:1, 2 1 Chron 17:1.
As a general rule I don’t read “forwarded” e-mails that I receive, just because 99% of the time they’re some silly chain letter or SPAM or something equally useless. But last a week a friend of mine forwarded an article to me written by Jay Leno and given that its Thanksgiving week I think this particular article is especially appropriate. I’d like to share part of it with you.

The flaming red of the Fire Bushes and the yellow-orange stars on the Gum Tree are a more brilliant hue than last week…all because I had a cataract removed from my eye. However, I still see cockeyed until later when my other eye will be “fixed”. The procedure itself didn’t take long, but there were extended periods of waiting.
Life can get a little monotonous sometimes. Try as everyone does the repetition of the little things throughout everybody’s daily life can begin to wear everyone down. But, there is hope. When the day has brought you down and there seems to be no place to turn, there is always one failsafe that will keep you from utter boredom: Board games.
A Thanksgiving Wish
The refrigerator in our kitchen looks like the one in any typical home that has children. The outside is covered with magnets that hold pictures, report cards and notes and messages. There is one laminated newspaper article that has been on our refrigerator for as long as I can remember. It is an article written by my oldest sister, Lauren, when she was a Junior at Breathitt High and I was only 2 years old. I thought I would share it with you this week because it really tells about what is important to our family at this time of year.
Hello friends, another week is past and gone. As we look ahead to the future we are in store for great things if we look to God as our source! Thanksgiving is next week, winter is on its way; everything in life takes preparation so let’s make sure that we prepare for our Eternity first of all.
