Drug offenses make for guilty plea, sentencing
Special to the Voice During the course of one day in court earlier this month, a Breathitt County woman pleaded guilty to a drug offense, while a former Breathitt County man was sentenced on drug-related offenses.
That’s according to Breathitt Commonwealth’s Attorney Darrell Herald, who said the actions took place on Friday, November 9th in Breathitt Circuit Court.
30-year-old Tammy Howard Hudson of Jackson pled guilty to one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. In court, Operation UNITE Prosecutor Bruce Herald said that Hudson sold half an OxyContin pill to a cooperating witness on October 19th, 2005. The state recommended that Hudson serve five years in jail, with Circuit Judge Frank A. Fletcher setting December 7th at the sentencing hearing date.
Later in the day, 49-year-old Johnny Campbell was sentenced by Fletcher to ten years in jail for one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense. UNITE Prosecutor Herald said that Campbell, a former Breathitt Countian who now lives in Winchester, sold two Methadone tablets to an undercover police officer on August 19th, 2005.
