“A Little Mixed Up”, by James R. Fugate
I always look forward to read-ing the Voice on Thursday evening. I read the right column of page two first to see how bad a beating that I have taken from Bobby. I must say that I am getting tired of being beaten with the same old clubs labeled: liberal abortion support, liberal tax increases, liberal deficit spending, liberal anti-gun control and so on. I wish that he would get some new ones. The clubs are now all in splinters. He used the liberal abortion club last week and explained why the Supreme Court couldn’t overturn Roe vs. Wade even though they were the Court which legalized abortions. Bobby keeps bringing up abortion numbers but according to his own admission, the Court that is skewed to the right, will not tackle this issue. Since we both know that the unborn has been unmercifully legally killed since Roe vs. Wade and neither party has or will attempt to over turn the decision, the blame rest on both the Democrats and Republicans. The killing of nearly 4000 soldiers in the last four years in the name of fighting terrorism rest solely with the Bush Administration.
If it were not for the news media uncovering political corruption in both parties, I don’t think that any wrong doings would ever be exposed. Where Bobby condemns them, I applaud them for serving as an oversight body with the guts to expose the high and mighty. It was the news media that exposed Nixon and possibly saved our Democracy. It was the news media that exposed Bill Clinton and his extramarital affairs and brought about his impeachment. It is the news media that looks under the toilet dividers in the transportation terminals and exposes the Gay-elected officials. The Republicans call them liberals because they expose without exception. The Republicans resent the scrutiny because they are at the brunt of most of the media’s investigations. When the media appear to be anti-conservative, it is because the corruption is in the conservative camp.
This is Thanksgiving week and when I think of all the good writers which follow page two of the Voice, I am very thankful. Keep on writing because you are appreciated.
Owen’s last articles have been like a breath of fresh air. I have been given the same advice many times that was given Owen and I understand from where he is coming. Stay on human interest and avoid politics. Sometimes politics just aren’t interesting and they always rub someone raw to the extent of irritation. Thank God for the weekly uplifting articles that help me and other readers to come away saying,” I feel better after having read the Voice.” What do you think?
On behalf of Bobby, myself, the Voice staff and all the Voice writers, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving and thank you for your continued support. We have so much more to be thankful for and I thank God each day for the many undeserved blessings in my life. Take time this Thanksgiving week and count your many blessings. You’ll find that there isn’t much time left to complain. Have a happy, thankful Thanksgiving.
