What is the definition of a great coach? If you ask the Kentucky Association Basketball Coaches (KABC) who the greatest coach in the 14th region is their answer would be, Kyle Lively. The KABC has named Lively the 14th Region Coach of the Year, for the 2007 basketball season.
Lively, as many may remember was the coach for the Jackson City boys basketball team in 2006.
UK bumped out of NCAA in Second Round by superior Kansas Jayhawks
(Elliott Co. & June Buchanan get first trip to Rupp Arena)
Tubby Smith and the Kentucky Wildcats exited the 2007 NCAA Div. 1 men’s basketball tournament at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois Sunday afternoon, thanks to the Kansas Jayhawks, the # 1 seed in the West regional and arguably the best team in the nation by a final score of 88 - 76.

A few parting shots are in order before we close the book on this basketball season. There’s still basketball to be played for sure, the boys’ Sweet Sixteen, the culmination of the NCAA tournament, and of course the NBA. (They’re still playing in that league, aren’t they?) However, without a team of our own, it’s simply not as exciting. Not to say that we’re not going to be rooting for June Buchanan to make a good showing at state. After all, the 14th Region has a lot of ground to recover. Over the past 25 years no other region has performed more poorly in the big show.
Watching so much basketball action, one can’t help but imagine how the game could be improved with a few tweaks here and there with the rules.
I hate to see players foul out; in fact I’m not sure if there’s another sport that eliminates players due to infractions, unless of course they’re ejected from the contest for unacceptable behavior.
