The game looked like it might never end. One whistle followed another as both teams raced up and down the floor, but the winner was never in doubt. Justin Hollan led the Bobcats in scoring with 23 points as the Bobcats defeated the Louisville Brown Bears by a score of 87-62 in a Saturday afternoon game at Fairce O. Woods Coliseum. Coach Steve Bank’s squad had four players in double figures. Freshman big man Dakota Ritchie saw more playing time in this game and scored 10 points. Senior Brandon Hayes broke into the starting lineup for the first time this season and responded with his best game scoring 13 points. Sophomore Ryan Allan seemed to really enjoy the up-tempo game and responded with 11 points and his darting drives to the basket were single-handedly responsible for half of the Bear fouls in the fourth quarter. Freshman point guard Nick Noble tallied 9 points and unveiled an ability to drive to the basket not yet seen this season.
Center Travis Smith (9) and forward Aaron Combs (2) had their playing time limited by fouls. Reserves Zack Epperson (2), Jade Haddix (2) and Channing Fugate (1) also saw action as Coach Banks was able to play most of the reserves, several seeing action toward the end of the first half where the Bobcats led 39-29.
The Bobcats have a Tuesday game with Buckhorn leading up to the big showdown on Friday with the neighboring Jackson Tigers.
