Coleman, who is originally from Inez, KY, played high school basketball in West Virginia. “Coach Coleman is great role model for our kids and has a very high basketball IQ,” stated head coach James Turner. Turner had nothing but praise for coach Coleman and saying that he was “very welcomed” addition to his staff.

Our first bear, Jacob Hundley is recovering nicely from ACL surgery and looks to be back next season, competing for the starting QB job. If his past antics are any indication, look for Jacob to be at the helm when the bears take the field in 2007.
Tuesday, November 28th, 2006Bowling Green, Ky. — Justin Haddix threw for two scores and caught another Saturday to help lead Western Kentucky University to a 24-14 non-conference football victory over Austin Peay at L.T. Smith Stadium/Jimmy Feix Field as the Hilltoppers wrapped up their 11th straight winning season. Haddix, playing in the final game of his four-year career, finished 16-of-24 passing for 173 yards as WKU improved to 6-5. Chris Fletcher rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown, and Lanis Frederick added 102 yards on 11 receptions to pace the Governors, who fell to 3-8. "The main thing we wanted was to send our seniors out with a winning season," said WKU head coach David Elson. "I’m really proud of this class, and that we were able to do that for them." Haddix, who ended up with 182 yards of total offense, opened the scoring early in the first quarter as he found Curtis Hamilton for a 5-yard score after moving the Toppers 59 yards in eight plays on the initial drive of the contest. He connected with Hamilton again, this time from 30 yards out, to give WKU a 17-7 advantage with just over nine minutes to go in the second period, and he closed out the scoring when the Hilltoppers used a trick play for the only points after halftime. Tyrell Hayden took a pitch from Haddix and headed left before tossing the ball to Brandon Smith coming back the other way, then Smith found Haddix in the right corner of the end zone for an 18-yard score and a 24-14 advantage just over five minutes after the break. It was Haddix’ first-ever touchdown catch — he had caught four balls in the previous three seasons, but did not reach the end zone — while it was the first scoring pass of Smith’s career. Hamilton would finish with six receptions for 55 yards, as he became just the second player in school history to catch 10 touchdowns in a season. Jessie Quinn added four catches for 64 yards, while six other players collected at least one reception. The Governors also scored on their first possession, evening the score with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening quarter on Fletcher’s 18-yard scoring run. However, special teams play would help the Toppers take the lead for good early in the second quarter as Clay Stephens ran for 30 yards on a fake punt on the first snap of the period. Five plays and one first down later, Chris James hit a 27-yard field goal to make the score 10- 7.

Autumn is probably my favorite time of the year to fish. Water temps have cooled off and allowed for more fish to move shallow and create a really good fall feed. Largemouth bass will generally start moving in late September, but November and early December seem to produce some good water temps for the shallow water patterns to work.

Cats use all 9 lives & offense to dodge embarrassing loss
“Belfry,
Johnson Central, Somerset one win away from Louisville”
If a cat truly does have nine lives then the 2006 UK football Wildcats surely used their ninth and final one last Saturday afternoon when Jr. defensive tackle Myron Pryor tackled the Louisiana - Monroe quarterback at the one yard line and prevented an attempt at a two point conversion which if converted would have tied the game with only fifty seconds remaining in regulation 42 - 42.
Instead Pryor’s late game heroics preserved victory 42 - 40 and what could have been a tremendously damaging and very embarrassing loss to the UK football programs season. But ugly as it was this particular Wildcat team found a way to weather the storm and get the win when many teams in the Wildcats past would have surrendered on several occasions in the 2nd half and lost.

LEXINGTON - There won’t be as many people coming over to Clark and Carol Watterson’s for Thanksgiving dinner this year. Inside the room of an extended stay motel the Wattersons are calling “home” for now, a huge Teddy Bear sits on top of the TV set. It is a gift from Clark to his wife. For now, Carol will take the cuddly gift over flowers. “I’m not allowed to have anything that can cause infection, like pollen in the air, or on something,” she said last Thursday evening. On the mirror is a list of medications that Carol must take to get back on the road to being healthy. At a nearby table, the very medications she’s taking are lined up, like little toy soldiers for Christmas. Near the bed, a walker is nearby, to help her move from one end of the room to another. For Thanksgiving, they’re planning on their 11-year-old son, Aaron, and Carol’s brother and his wife, who live in Lexington, to come over to spend the day with them.
It won’t be as big as previous holidays.
But it will be more precious.
