County Schools Hold Maintainence In-Service
At Wednesday’s In-Service session at Breathitt High School, custodians, maintenance workers, cooks and school principals learned that preventive maintenance is ongoing, and starts with day-to-day maintenance. That’s followed by good equipment care, as well as safety and health measures to make their jobs more efficient for everyone.
The all-day session was held at the BHS Cafeteria, and was sponsored by the Breathitt County Schools and King Supply Company. The in-service featured Dewey Phelps of the State Fire Marshall’s Office, who went over safety proceedures for the upcoming school year; Jackson Fire Chief Roger Friley, who showed the proper use of fire extinguishers; as well as William Sizemore and Jarad Crase of the Breathitt County Health Department, who showed what they looked for when they make school inspections.
Doug Peterson of Spartan Chemical Company taught one of the classes on Hard Floor Care 101 during the morning sessions. Other classes were on Safety Training, Carpet Care 101, Restroom Cleaning, and a Key Product Overview. After a lunch break, Jeremy Baird of the Kentucky School Boards Association met with the group during the afternoon session.
